Change Management

Change can be stressful, and if not managed well the desired outcome can be undermined. Old ways of doing things have a tendency to reassert themselves. This course shows how to avoid these pitfalls and help individuals and groups to embrace new paths to improvement.

Aim: Achieve a pragmatic knowledge of the dynamics of change within organisations.

On completion participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the difference between a personal reaction to change and a group reaction
  • Identify the Insider/Outsider dynamic as a barrier to change and development
  • See how we mediate to alleviate during periods of change, and how to use this constructively
  • Recognise and utilise agents of change
  • Implement a power analysis.
  • Differentiate between permission and equity
  • Empowerment v Disempowerment
  • See how preconceptions may block change
  • Control dynamic memory – explore how we romanticise the pre-change era
  • Develop meeting skills and goodwill
  • Recognise the selfish interest, and how it can work for the good of the group

Well-presented course. Facilitators were knowledgeable, good examples, and were fun. Thank you. Really enjoyed the day – has made me think more about how I talk with people who do not speak English. Has given me very useful tips that I can use in profession/job.

Day went very fast. Helps to refocus on what is required by me to improve my communication with non-native speakers in our staff. Really helpful! A great day. Enjoyable and worthwhile; an eye-opener.

Very effective at promoting awareness of our presumptions about another’s understanding.’ ‘Extremely important to all front-line staff.

Course would be highly relevant for all admin/reception staff as well as all professional grades. Examples and comparisons helped to relate the specific skills to real life. Especially like the diversity of activity – lots of interactive exercises. Well done – a lot packed in.
